Quick Guide

  1. Travel south on Route 114 to locate the entrance to Meteor Falls.
  2. Rescue Professor Cozmo by defeating Team Aqua/Magma inside Meteor Falls.
  3. Take the Cable Car to ascend Mt. Chimney and defeat Team Aqua/Magma on Mt. Chimney.
  4. Leave Mt. Chimney through its south exit leading to Jagged Pass.

Route 114

From Fallarbor Town, proceed westward on Route 114.

Then turn south to find the bridge connecting to the southern area, where the exterior of Meteor Falls can be found. When you reach the rocky terrain in this area, go up the stairs and follow the winding path to Meteor Falls’ entrance.

You can also spend time on this route hunting for Pokémon or items, or just challenging trainers along the way.

Lanette’s House

Southwest of the bridge, you’ll find Lanette’s House. When you talk to her she’ll give you a Doll for your Secret Base.

Additionally, if you ask her to then she will move the “Organize Boxes” button to the top of the list whenever you access the PC. If you wish to revert this change, simply talk to her again.

Tip: If Lanette isn’t around when you get here, head to Fallarbor Town’s Pokémon Center and talk to her while she’s using the PC. After a brief conversation, she should now be in her house on Route 114.

At the end of this rocky path filled with craters, you’ll spot the cave entrance to Meteor Falls. Head inside to help rescue Professor Cozmo.

Meteor Falls is a massive cave containing a waterfall. Although you can freely explore the cave’s first floor, you can’t access its upper levels until later in the game when you can climb up waterfalls.

For now, cross the bridge on the left and a cutscene involving Team Aqua/Magma should play.

Back at Professor Cozmo’s House

After winning the battle, you and your rival will escort Professor Cozmo back to his lab in Fallarbor Town, where he will reward you with TM23 Smack Down.

Now you’ll need to pursue Team Aqua/Magma at Mt. Chimney.

So your rival suggests heading to Mauville City together.

Saying “Yes” allows you to instantly fast travel back to Mauville City. Alternatively, you can say “No” for now if you wish to continue exploring the surrounding areas. Your rival will wait for you here in case you change your mind.

Returning to Route 112 (South Side)

From Mauville City, head north once again and make your way to Route 112’s south side.

Once you’re back on Route 112, proceed to the Cable Car Station’s entrance which was previously blocked by Team Aqua/Magma Grunts – but they should have left that spot by now.

Inside, speak to the attendant to board the Cable Car and ascend to the top of Mt. Chimney. Following a brief cutscene, you’ll reach the station at the top of Mt. Chimney.

You can also speak to the attendant here if you want to go back down to Route 112.

Exiting the station, you’ll find yourself on the top of Mt. Chimney.

The path south is blocked by two Grunts battling, so your only option is to head north and climb even higher to reach the summit of this colossal volcano.

Team Aqua/Magma Grunt + Admin Battle

As you head up the volcano, you’ll encounter more Grunts battling with the opposing team.

Head to the northwest side of the volcano to battle against one of the Grunts.

Afterward, you’ll encounter the same Team Aqua/Magma Admin you met at Meteor Falls. They’ll challenge you to a rematch using a similar team to the one they used in Meteor Falls, but this time in a single battle.

After defeating the Admin, proceed to the machine at the end of the glass platform to confront Team Aqua/Magma’s Leader.

Following a brief cutscene, he’ll finally battle you for the first time.

After defeating him, he gives you the Meteorite and heads for Mt. Pyre. Then the other team leader will also talk to you for a bit before also leaving.

After all the grunts have departed, an elderly woman will appear and offer to sell you Lava Cookies for 200 Pokedollars each.

Lava Cookies function as more affordable alternatives to Full Heals, so it’s a good idea to stock up on some.

However, she won’t sell them immediately when she first appears. First you’ll need to take the Cable Car back up to Mt. Chimney after descending back to Route 112 through Jagged Pass.

With the Grunts gone, take the south exit to reach Jagged Pass.

This brings you one step closer to Lavaridge Town, the location of the fourth Gym.
