When the ship lands, head west from the docks to explore Dewford Town. Make sure to obtain the Old Rod from a nearby Fisherman. This will allow you to fish and potentially add a Water-type Pokémon to your team.

You won’t be able to deliver the Letter to Steven for now, so head to the town’s Gym to try and obtain the 2nd Gym badge.
