Quick Guide

  1. Meet up with Steven again at the Mossdeep Space Center, where he’ll tell you to find Wallace in Sootopolis City.
  2. Locate and battle Wallace on Route 131.
  3. Ascend to the apex of Sky Pillar to catch Rayquaza.
  4. Defeat Zinnia in a battle.
  5. Catch or defeat Deoxys to conclude the Delta Episode.

After the events in the hideout, make your way back to the Mossdeep Space Center.

Speak with Steven and Professor Cozmo to learn what you need to do next.

Your next objective is to locate Gym Leader Wallace in Sootopolis City.

Sootopolis City: Following Wallace to Sky Pillar

Fly to Sootopolis City and head to the path that leads to the Cave of Origin, the cave where you caught Kyogre/ Groudon.

There, you’ll find Wallace in front of the giant tree. He’ll tell you to head to Route 131, where the Sky Pillar can be found.

So to reach Route 131, fly back to Route 128 and then Surf southward. You’ll soon arrive at Route 129.

Route 129 is located in the southeast corner of Hoenn and provides access to Route 130 to the left.

Route 130 is a short water route that features a diving spot that extends from Route 129.

One of the diving spots in the route also leads to Secret Meadow, located on the north side of the route.

Just after passing a swimmer on the north side and reaching the end of the diving spot, continue surfing westward and you’ll finally arrive at Route 131.

Route 131 serves as the water route connecting Route 130 to the east and Pacifidlog Town to the west.

Unlike other routes, there are no diving spots here.

But Sky Pillar is situated on the north side of the route. If you attempt to visit the Sky Pillar before Wallace asks you to, the cave entrance will be sealed.

To reach the entrance to the Sky Pillar where Wallace awaits, surf through the narrow northwest path of the island where the route’s sign is located. As you head north from there, you’ll soon discover the entrance to the Sky Pillar.

Upon reaching the island where Wallace is waiting for you, a cutscene will begin. He will notify you that he has unsealed the entrance to Sky Pillar.

Then he’ll challenge you to a battle to see if you’re ready for what’s to come.

Note: While he won’t utilize any Pokémon capable of Mega Evolving, he will have a full team of six Water-type Pokémon. Defeating him won’t be simple, especially if you’re still underleveled at this point in the game.

Upon reaching the tower’s summit, you’ll witness the conclusion to the Delta Episode, which includes the opportunity to capture the Legendary Pokémon Rayquaza.

As you ascend the tower, Zinnia will narrate the history and legend of Rayquaza, as depicted on the tower’s walls.

Ascending Sky Pillar (Step-by-Step)

Step 1: After defeating Wallace, enter the newly unsealed entrance to the cave.

Step 2: After entering the cave, climb up multiple sets of stairs.

Step 3: At the top of the stairs, turn right and exit the cave through the passage in the bottom-right corner.

Step 4: Upon exiting the cave, enter the tower entrance to the north.

Step 5: Once inside Sky Pillar, head towards the north side of the first floor where Zinnia begins to recount the legend of Rayquaza.

Then climb the ladder located behind Zinnia to access the second floor of Sky Pillar.

Step 6: Upon reaching the second floor, follow the path heading west towards the bottom-left corner of the floor.

Step 7: After Zinnia’s second chapter, you’ll come across a ladder on your right. Climb it, then proceed eastward.

Step 8: On the third floor, keep listening to Zinnia’s story. Then climb the next ladder located behind her at the end of the path.

Step 9: After climbing up to the fourth floor, follow another linear path heading northwest.

Step 10: Upon reaching the northernmost section of the fourth floor, start moving southwest.

Step 11: Then head east where you’ll encounter Zinnia once more.

After the next chapter, ascend the ladder to reach the fifth floor.

Step 12: When you’ve made it to the fifth floor, take a right turn and follow the path going south.

Step 13: Keep walking south until you reach Zinnia, who will narrate the final chapter of Rayquaza’s legend.

Step 14: Use the ladder located behind Zinnia to finally reach the apex of Sky Pillar.

Upon reaching the apex of Sky Pillar, Zinnia will already be waiting for you.

The lengthy cutscene to initiate the final chapter of the Delta Episode should begin from here.

Eventually Zinnia will summon the Legendary Pokémon Rayquaza using the Key Stones she stole throughout the game.

After the cutscene, Rayquaza will wait for you to battle and catch it.

Note: If you accidentally KO Rayquaza in this fight, don’t worry, as it will respawn immediately. The game will only progress once you successfully catch it. If you run out of Pokeballs, you can speak to Zinnia and she will give you one Ultra Ball. (This is repeatable)

Once you successfully catch it, you’ll need to replace one of your party Pokémon with Rayquaza (unless your team isn’t full).

Then Zinnia will teach it its signature move, Dragon Ascent (replacing Fly automatically).

Now that you’ve caught Rayquaza, you’ll have to prove to Zinnia that you can master Rayquaza’s power by defeating her in an all-out battle!

She’ll be using 5 formidable Dragon-type Pokémon, including one of the most powerful Mega Evolutions in the game – Mega Salamence.

After your victory, another lengthy cutscene will unfold.

In this scene you and Rayquaza will soar into outer space and obliterate the meteor hurtling toward Earth, successfully neutralizing the impending threat.

However, a triangle-shaped object seems to be inside the meteor…

The unidentified object attacks!

It seems to be an alien Pokémon known as Deoxys. Catch or defeat it to proceed with the story.

Note: If you accidentally defeat it instead of catching it, you’ll have another opportunity to capture it later at the apex of Sky Pillar after the Delta Episode concludes.

After descending back to Earth with Rayquaza, a final cutscene will show the current whereabouts of everyone involved in the Delta Episode.

It concludes with you and your rival spending the day together at Mossdeep Space Center using the tickets Norman gave you.

When you’re finally able to move again, head downstairs and talk to Norman to get the S.S. Ticket Key Item>. You can use this ticket to board the S.S. Tidal (in either Slateport Harbor or Lilycove Harbor) and travel to the Battle Resort.

Before leaving the house, speak with your Mom to obtain the Latiasite if you’re playing Omega Ruby, or Latiosite if you’re playing Alpha Sapphire.

This will enable you to Mega Evolve Latias or Latios, respectively.

One final event can play out soon after the Delta Episode’s ending.

The Unova Starters

When you leave your house in Littleroot Town, Professor Birch will call you and say he’s under attack, this time by a Machoke.

He’ll ask for your help one more time and offer you a Pokémon from his bag – letting you choose from the Unova starters.
