Quick Guide

  1. Enter Team Aqua/Magma’s Hideout and defeat Grunts as you explore.
  2. Navigate the warp tile maze to reach Archie’s room and obtain a Master Ball. (Optional)
  3. Find and defeat the Team Aqua/Magma Admin in the Submarine room.
  4. Leave the hideout and surf toward Route 124.

The Team Aqua/Magma Hideout is a location in the game that changes based on whether you’re playing Alpha Sapphire or Omega Ruby.

Since the hideouts have mirrored interior layouts, item locations and the placement of warp tiles will vary based on your game version.

But your goal stays the same in both versions:

Defeat the Grunts trying to stop you from navigating through their hideout and find Captain Stern’s stolen submarine.

Navigating Through the Hideout (Step-by-Step)

Step 1: Proceed directly through the main entrance of the Team Aqua Hideout.

Step 2: Once you’ve entered the first room, make use of the warp tile in the room’s northeast corner.

Step 3: Battle or avoid the Team Aqua Grunts, and then proceed to the stairs located on the room’s left side.

Step 4: After heading down the stairs, navigate to the room’s left side and step onto the warp tile at the end of the hallway.

Step 5: In the next room, head east and use the warp tile in the room’s northeast corner.

Step 6: Then, take the next warp tile directly on your right.

Step 7: In the Submarine room, head east to the right side of the room.

Step 8: Then approach the Team Aqua Grunts and defeat them in a Horde Battle.

Step 9: As you get close to Aqua Admin Matt, he’ll challenge you to a battle, attempting to give Archie an opportunity to escape using the stolen submarine.

Step 10: After Archie successfully escapes, head north past Matt and then turn left until you reach the last warp tile you need to use.

Step 11: Step onto the warp tile at the end of the path. It should teleport you back near the hideout’s entrance.

Obtaining the Master Ball in Archie’s Room

One of the items you can obtain in the hideout is the Master Ball, located inside Aqua Leader Archie’s room. You’ll discover it after successfully navigating through the warp tile maze.

To find the Master Ball, start from where you ended up after completing Step 6 in the previous section and pick up with the steps below:

Step 8: In this room, stepping on one of the correct sequences of warp tiles will lead you to Archie’s room.

Begin by stepping on the warp tile on the left.

Step 9: Then use of the middle warp tile.

Step 10: From your current position on the middle warp tile, proceed to the warp tile that’s farthest on the left.

Step 11: Finally, take a step on the leftmost warp tile to reach Archie’s room.

Step 12: Upon entering Archie’s room, make your way to the room’s northeast corner.

Step 13: Find and pick up the Master Ball tucked in the top-right among the four Poké Balls in the corner.

Note that the two Poké Balls next to it are Electrodes, so you’ll need to battle one of them before getting to the Master Ball in the back corner.

Step 10: After Maxie successfully escapes, head north past Courtney and then turn right until you reach the last warp tile at the very end of this upper pathway.

Obtaining the Master Ball in Maxie’s Room

To find the Master Ball in Omega Ruby, head to the location where you were at in “Step 6” in the previous directions above. Then pick up the following directions:

Step 13: Find and pick up the Master Ball tucked in the top-left among the four Poké Balls in the corner.
