Wally Battles

Wally is the young green-haired boy you first meet in Petalburg City where you help him catch a Ralts.

He is one of the game’s two rivals, and he reappears several times throughout the story. You’ll battle him twice in the main story, but you can rematch him multiple times in the post-game.

After you beat the Elite four, you’ll unlock the post-game Wally rematch at the Battle Resort. At this point he will have one of the strongest teams of any NPC in the game.

Battle #1: Mauville City

Your first rival battle with Wally occurs outside the Mauville City Gym. The first time you approach the gym a brief cutscene triggers featuring Wally and his uncle, where Wally challenges you to a battle.

Battle #2: Victory Road

Your second battle with Wally occurs near Victory Road’s exit. A cutscene triggers where he challenges you with his new and improved team, which now includes a Gallade capable of Mega Evolution.

Battle #3: Battle Resort

After completing the Delta Episode, you can challenge Wally for a third time at the Battle Resort’s Battle Maison after achieving 50 consecutive wins in any Super Challenge. One day after reaching this milestone, Wally will appear in the Battle Maison lobby to have a rematch with you.

Then after you defeat him for the first time, he will occasionally reappear in the same spot to rematch you with his best team.
