To check your Pokémon’s Individual Values (or IVs), you’ll need to talk to an Ace Trainer NPC in the Battle Resort’s Pokémon Center. This NPC is also known as the IV Judge, and he will make various statements to tell you the approximate value of your Pokémon’s stats.
The IV Judge will not explicitly tell you the exact values, but will instead give you coded statements that correlate to a range of IV values.
Location
The IV Judge can only be found in the Battle Resort’s Pokémon Center.
The Battle Resort is only accessible if you have the S.S. Ticket, a key item that allows you to board the S.S. Tidal from the ports of Slateport City and Lilycove City. So to reach this area you’ll need to first complete the Delta Episode in the post-game.
IV Judge Meanings
In a nutshell, Individual Values (or IVs) determine how high or low a particular base stat can be. Ranging from 0 to 31 per stat, each IV is randomly generated whenever you catch or hatch a Pokémon.
The exact value of each of your IVs is hidden. But you can use the IV Judge to help you figure out its approximate value.
When you talk to the IV Judge, choose a Pokémon to be judged in your current party. Then the IV Judge will make statements that will tell you the range of your Pokémon’s IVs.
His first statement pertains to your chosen Pokémon’s overall potential. Here’s a list of all possible first statements:
Statement | IV Total |
---|---|
“Decent” | 0-90 |
“Above Average” | 91-120 |
“Relatively Superior” | 121-150 |
“Outstanding” | 151-186 |
Then the IV judge will tell you the stat with the highest IVs. If the Pokémon has two or more stats that are equally good, he will list all of those as well.
Lastly, he will describe the value of the Pokémon’s highest IV/s, with all possible statements & their meanings listed below:
Statement | IV Range |
---|---|
“Decent” | 0–15 |
“Good” | 16-25 |
“Fantastic” | 26-30 |
“They simply can’t be beat!” | 31 |
