The Hidden Power Checker NPC is an old woman residing in the 2nd house to the right of the Pokémon Center in Fortree City. There are 3 women in this house, and the woman on the right is the Hidden Power checker that can reveal the Hidden Power type for any Pokémon in your party.

This is also the same house where you obtain TM10 Hidden Power.

How This NPC Works

Checking a Pokémon’s Hidden Power type
Checking a Pokémon’s Hidden Power type

The Hidden Power Checker can reveal the specific type of your Pokémon’s Hidden Power. This is a move that varies in type based on each Pokémon’s individual values (IVs).

Using the Hidden Power Checker’s service is pretty straightforward:

Just talk to her, select a Pokémon from your party, and she’ll tell you its Hidden Power type. This can be done regardless of whether the Pokémon currently knows the move Hidden Power or not.

Hidden Power is a valuable move that some Pokémon can utilize to gain an edge against Pokémon they’re usually weak against. The most sought-after Hidden Power types are typically Ice, Fire, and Ground, because they provide a wide coverage against many commonly-used Pokémon in competitive battles.

Fun Fact: A Fairy-type Hidden Power is impossible in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire. This is due to the fact that the method for determining Hidden Power’s type predates the introduction of Fairy-types, and it has remained unchanged from those previous generations.
