Route 101

Route 101 is the first route from Littleroot Town, where players receive their starter Pokémon after helping out Professor Birch.

Later in the game, Professor Birch will give you additional starter Pokémon from the Johto, Unova, and Sinnoh regions upon reaching key milestones, like entering the Hall of Fame or completing the Delta Episode.

At the start of the game, Professor Birch will call for help and ask you to choose a starter Pokémon from his bag. After selecting your starter, you’ll battle a wild Poochyena to save the professor.

Shortly after obtaining the Pokédex, your rival will upgrade your PokéNav Plus to include the DexNav function. Then your rival will teach you how to sneak up on hidden Pokémon found using the DexNav.
