Rare Candies can be found all over Hoenn, but finding them can be tedious – especially since most of the ones that can be found in the overworld are hidden items. If you want to farm a lot of Rare Candies, then the most reliable method to farm them is to earn BP and purchase them at the Battle Maison.

But below is a curated list of all the locations where you can find or obtain Rare Candies in the game.

Non-Repeatable Methods

Location #1 – Petalburg City

Prerequisites
  • HM03 Surf

Step 1: From Petalburg City’s Pokémon Center, head southwest toward the pond.

Step 2: Use Surf and land on the small patch of land in the pond’s southeast corner. There, you’ll find the hidden Rare Candy.

Location #2 – Granite Cave

Prerequisites
  • Mach Bike
  • TM70 Flash (Optional)

Step 1: Enter Granite Cave and follow the path heading west.

Step 2: Use your Mach Bike to ride up the muddy slope next to the Hiker.

Then at the top, head east and climb down the ladder to reach the underground floor of Granite Cave.

Step 3: If you have a Flash user, use TM70 Flash to light up the cave. Then head north and use your Mach Bike again to ride up the slope near you.

Step 4: Then, turn left and follow the narrow path along the northern wall.

Step 5: Continue east until you reach the ladder in the northeast corner of the floor.

Step 6: After going down the ladder, pick up the nearby Rare Candy.

Location #3 – Safari Zone

Prerequisites

Step 1: Head to the Safari Zone and exit through the entrance building’s left door.

Step 2: Use your Acro Bike and immediately turn left.

Step 3: Continue west, and at the end of the path, prepare to bunny hop with your Acro Bike.

Step 4: Hold the B button for more than two seconds to perform a bunny hop.

Then, you can use the D-Pad/Control Pad to move around and climb up the stumps.

Step 5: While still on your Acro Bike, cross the narrow bridge heading north.

Then cross to the left side of the bridge by performing a sideways hop twice. You can do this by simultaneously pressing the B button and the left D-Pad/Control Pad.

Step 6: After that, cross the bridge to the right side with a sideways hop by pressing the B button and the right D-Pad/Control Pad simultaneously.

Then descend the wooden stumps back to the ground by performing another bunny hop.

Step 7: Head north into the long grass and pick up the Rare Candy in the corner.

Location #4 – Mt. Pyre (Summit)

Step 1: Fly to Mt. Pyre and ascend the structure inside, and you’ll eventually reach its exterior.

Step 2: Head into the tall grass and follow the eastward path.

Step 3: Climb two sets of stairs and continue on the westward path.

Step 4: At the end of the path, ascend another set of stairs to continue climbing Mt. Pyre.

Step 5: Follow the indicated path below to reach the summit of Mt. Pyre.

Step 6: Near the summit, take the central staircase leading north.

Step 7: Climb three sets of stairs and turn right onto the narrow side path.

Step 8: At the corner, turn north and follow the path as it curves around the summit.

Step 9: Finally, pick up the hidden Rare Candy on the second gravestone to the right.

Location #5 – Shoal Cave

Prerequisites
  • Enter Shoal Cave during High Tide (9:00 – 14:59; 21:00 – 2:59)
  • HM03 Surf

Step 1: Fly and head inside Shoal Cave during High Tide.

During high tide, the cave will be filled with water, so use HM03 Surf in the first room.

Step 2: Surf north towards the staircase.

Disembark there and go through the cave entrance on the northwest side of the room.

Step 3: In the next room, find where the stairs meet the water on the left side and use Surf again.

Step 4: After passing under the bridge, turn right and surf east for a bit.

Step 5: As you reach the right side of the room, disembark onto the shallow part of the water and start walking south.

Step 6: Find the staircase on your left-hand side that leads to a path with an item. Head north along the path to pick up the Rare Candy at the end.

Location #6 – Route 108

Prerequisites
  • HM03 Surf

Step 1: Fly to Route 108 and start surfing east along the southern edge of the route.

Step 2: Land near a small island with an item on it. Interact with the nearby small rock and you’ll find a Rare Candy is hidden inside.

Location #7 – Route 110

Prerequisites
  • HM03 Surf

Step 1: Fly back to Slateport City and enter Route 110 through its southern entrance.

Step 2: Head north along the dirt path until you reach the intersection near the Trick House. Turn right and head westward under the Cycling Road.

Step 3: Continue east until you find a gap in the northern rails. When you find it, use Surf there and head north.

Step 4: Continue surfing north until you reach a small island with a Rare Candy in the center.

Location #8 – Route 111 (Desert)

  • Go-Goggles

Step 1: Fly to Route 111 and head northeast, passing a Backpacker.

Step 2: Then turn right and enter the desert area to the east.

Step 3: Proceed further east, walking past a Camper.

Step 4: Keep heading east until you reach the eastern wall, then move directly south along the wall.

Step 5: Soon, you’ll come across a small sandpit between a rock and the wall. Pick up the hidden Rare Candy inside.

Location #9 – Route 114

Prerequisites
  • HM03 Surf
  • HM05 Waterfall

Step 1: Fly back to Route 114. From there, travel northwest until you reach the body of water next to the waterfall.

Step 2: Use Surf to navigate to the base of the waterfall. Then climb up the waterfall by using HM05 Waterfall.

Step 3: Upon reaching the top of the waterfall, proceed west. You’ll find a Rare Candy located near the corner of this area.

Location #10 – Route 119

Prerequisites
  • HM03 Surf
  • HM05 Waterfall
  • Acro Bike
  • Devon Scope

Step 1: Fly to Route 119 and follow the southern path, descending the nearby staircase.

Step 2: At the bottom of the stairs, head west until you reach another set of stairs. Descend them and continue along the southern path.

Step 3: At the end of the path, use Surf on the body of water. Then surf northward.

Step 4: While surfing, head up the river and pass under the wooden bridge. After that, use HM05 Waterfall to ascend the waterfall.

Step 5: After ascending the waterfall, disembark to the left and approach the narrow wooden bridge.

Step 6: Before crossing the bridge, use the Devon Scope to reveal a hidden Kecleon and deal with that if needed.

Step 7: Using your Acro Bike, cross the bridge and perform three sideways hops to get to the other side. You can do this by simultaneously pressing the B button and the down D-Pad/Control Pad.

Step 8: After crossing to the right side, use your Acro Bike again to cross the northernmost bridge ahead.

Step 9: Perform another set of sideways hops to finish crossing the bridge, then cross one last bridge south of the Bird Keeper.

Step 10: After crossing the final bridge, pick up the Rare Candy before the ledge.

  • HM01 Cut

Step 1: Fly to Route 120 and head northwest to find the prickly tree.

Step 2: Use HM01 Cut on the first prickly tree and turn left into the narrow path.

Step 3: Continue west until you encounter another prickly tree. Use Cut again to pass through.

Step 4: After cutting the second tree, pick up the Rare Candy hidden at the path’s southwest end.

Location #12 – Route 123

Prerequisites
  • HM03 Surf

Step 1: Fly to Mt. Pyre and head southeast toward the nearby pier.

Step 2: Head south along the pier to enter Route 123’s east side.

Location #13 – Route 127

Prerequisites
  • HM03 Surf
  • HM07 Dive

Step 1: Fly to Route 127.

Then hop off the island and use HM03 Surf to navigate southeast.

Step 3: Shortly after, locate and go through the narrow opening on the southeast side.

Step 4: Land on the beach, turn right, and then head straight forward to the nearby diving spot.

Step 5: Use HM07 to dive underwater.

Travel slightly northeast underwater, and use Dive again to resurface.

Step 6: Finally, disembark near the island and pick up the Rare Candy that can be found between the trees.

Location #14 – Route 132

Prerequisites
  • HM03 Surf

Step 1: Fly to Route 132 and use Surf to get off the island.

Then head northwest to ride the northernmost water current.

Step 2: Surf south past a swimmer, then ride the southwest water current near the cluster of small rocks.

Step 3: If you rode the correct water current, you should end up on the top half of a small island with a fisherman on the other side. Pick up the Rare Candy tucked along the narrow wall.
