Ethers are items that restore 10 PP to a single move, making them particularly useful when you’re repeatedly using low base PP moves. While there isn’t a consistent way to farm them, you’re likely to find some while breaking rocks throughout Hoenn using HM06 Rock Smash.

Non-Repeatable Methods

Location #1 – Petalburg City

Prerequisites
  • HM03 Surf

Step 1: From Petalburg City’s Pokémon Center, head southwest toward the pond.

Step 2: Use Surf and land on the patch of land in the pond’s southwest corner. There, you’ll find a hidden Ether.

Location #2 – Petalburg Woods

Step 1: From Route 104’s south side, enter Petalburg Woods.

Step 2: Inside Petalburg Woods, follow the path west as it curves toward the northern part of the forest.

Step 3: Continue east along the path, then turn up and follow the path going west.

Step 4: In the northwest corner of the forest you’ll find the Ether.

Location #3 – Route 109

Step 1: Fly to Route 109 and from the route’s sign head directly east.

Step 2: Near the eastern edge of the shoreline, use your Dowsing Machine to locate the hidden Ether.

Location #4 – Route 113

Step 1: Fly to Route 113 and head west into the tall grass.

Step 2: Keep heading west, passing by a Youngster. Then climb up a short staircase when you reach it.

Step 3: Use your Dowsing Machine to find the hidden Ether under the soot pile near the Trainer Tips sign.

Location #5 – Route 116

Prerequisites
  • HM01 Cut

Step 1: Return to Route 116 and head east into the tall grass.

Step 2: Continue east until you encounter a Hiker. From there, go north towards the rest house.

Step 3: To the west of the rest house, you’ll find a maze-like area with prickly trees. Use Cut on the first tree to begin navigating the maze.

Step 4: Move west past the Trainer Tips sign and enter the narrow path heading north.

Step 5: Cut down the prickly tree near the Schoolkid. Then approach the edge of the ledge and pick up the Ether on the ground.

Location #6 – Mirage Island (West of Route 104)
