You will get the Shiny Charm from Professor Birch after you complete the National Pokédex and obtain every Pokémon in the National ‘Dex in Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire.
Note: You do not need to catch the following Mythical Pokémon in order to complete the National Pokédex:
- Mew
- Celebi
- Jirachi
- Phione
- Manaphy
- Darkrai
- Shaymin
- Arceus
- Victini
- Keldeo
- Meloetta
- Genesect
- Diancie
- Hoopa
- Volcanion
The Shiny Charm will increase your chances of obtaining Shiny Pokémon. This works for both wild Pokémon and by hatching Eggs from breeding.
Location
Fly over to Littleroot Town once you’ve completed your National ‘Dex.
Step 1: After arriving in Littleroot, walk down towards the lab.
Step 2: Continue to the bottom-left corner and enter Professor Birch’s laboratory.
Step 3: Inside the laboratory, walk up and talk to the Professor.
Step 4: Select the “National Pokédex” option.
Step 5: Professor Birch will confirm that you have completed the National Pokédex.
Step 6: After that, you will get the Shiny Charm as a reward.
Using the Shiny Charm
The Shiny Charm will improve the odds of obtaining a Shiny Pokémon.
In the Generation VI games, players have a default rate of 1 in 4,096 chance (0.024%) of finding a Shiny Pokémon. The rate is the same for wild Pokémon and for Eggs.
The Shiny Charm improves the odds of finding a Shiny Pokémon to 3 in 4,096 (0.073%).
