The Red Orb, which functions as Groudon’s Mega Stone, will be given to you at different points in the game depending on which version you’re playing.
In Omega Ruby, Maxie will give you the Red Orb in Sootopolis City after you battle Groudon in the Cave of Origin.
If you’re playing Alpha Sapphire, the Elders on Mt. Pyre’s summit will entrust you with the Red Orb after you defeat Team Aqua Admin Matt in a battle. This event happens some time after you obtain the sixth Gym Badge, but since Groudon isn’t available in this version, you might not be able to use it.
Uses
Unlike in previous generations, the Red Orb in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire is now classified as a Held Item, not a Key Item.
When Groudon holds it, the item triggers its transformation into Primal Groudon as soon as it enters battle.
Also, it’s important to note that using the Red Orb to transform Groudon doesn’t count as your one allowed Mega Evolution in each battle. This means you can still use Mega Evolution on a different Pokemon in the same battle where the Red Orb was used.
