There are two different ways to obtain Metal Powder.
The first method involves earning a Metal Powder as a reward for completing the Magnemite Croquette course in the Mauville Food Court. To obtain this reward, you must finish the course in exactly six turns and defeat all six Trainers.
Alternatively, you can also obtain a Metal Powder by using Thief to steal Metal Powder from wild Ditto. These can be found on two different Mirage Spots.
Uses
Metal Powder is a held item that, when held by Ditto, doubles the holder’s Defense stat in battle.
The Metal Powder has no effect in battle when held by any Pokémon other than Ditto.
However, it doesn’t work when Ditto is transformed.
This essentially makes this held item worthless, as there’s no situation where you don’t want your Ditto to transform in battle just to take advantage of its Defense boost. That said, this item might enable your Ditto to survive a single physical attack before transforming.
