Berry Trees

This page offers a guide on how to optimize planting and watering Berries in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire. We will specifically focus on berry care with the goal of harvesting each berry’s maximum yield via berry farming.

Planting and Watering Berries

After picking up Berries from a tree, you will be able to plant them in a plot of soft soil.

Once you plant a Berry you will need to water it to help it grow.

If the soil is dry, it will have a light brown color, while sprouts will look withered, and trees will have light-green leaves.

By pressing “A” on the plot you will get a message telling you that the soil is dry. You will then be able to water all Berries planted in it by using the Wailmer Pail.

You will then get a message once you are done watering all Berries in a plot.

The soil will also change to a dark brown color, while sprouts and trees will have dark-green leaves.

Growth Stages & Watering Cycles

Berry trees will go through four different growth stages before yielding Berries.

Once you plant a Berry, it will form a mound.

During the second growth stage, the Berry will sprout.

Once it enters the third stage, the Berry tree will develop a trunk.

In the fourth stage, the tree will come into bloom.

Maximizing Yield

A Berry tree’s yield is determined by how many times it’s been watered. While the soil dries every four hours, you will only need to water a Berry tree once per growth stage.

Each Berry tree has its own growth cycle, with shorter or longer stages. Since certain Berries have eight or even 12-hour intervals between each stage, you won’t necessarily have to water all of them every four hours.

If you manage to water the tree at least once every growth stage, then you will be able to harvest its maximum yield. Forgetting to water a Berry tree will simply reduce its yield, but the tree will not wither.

The table below lists the interval between growth stages, as well as the minimum and maximum yield for each type of Berry.

Keeping Track of Your Berry Trees

You can also keep track of your Berry trees by using the “Berries” tab in the AreaNav. The map will show all your Berry trees.

Dark dots will show Berry trees that are still growing, while white dots indicate that your Berries are ready for harvest.

Note: The AreaNav will only show Berry trees that have been planted by the player.

By tapping on the dots, you will be able to see the Berries growing in that area. The icons on the left side indicate the tree’s current growth.

Trees that have Berries ready for harvest will be indicated by an orange fruit icon.

A message will indicate how long it’s been since the Berry was planted.
