The AreaNav is one of the apps available in the PokéNav in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire. It can be accessed as soon as you start the game.
The default AreaNav screen shows the Town Map, and can also display three different icons:
- A trainer icon (red) will only pop up if there are rematches available in your current location.
- A secret base icon (brown), which indicates if there are any secret bases in your current location.
- A berries icon (green), that shows up to indicate there are ripe berries ready for harvest in your current location.
In order to access the AreaNav, simply tap the Town Map. After accessing the AreaNav you will find the buttons for its different features at the bottom of the touch screen. Simply tap the respective button to access the desired feature.

This page will detail all of the unique features in the AreaNav & how to use the mechanics of each feature.
Feature 1: Town Map (Places)

You can use the Town Map as a shortcut to fly to different cities and routes.
In order to do so, simply tap the desired location and then confirm your action.
If you hover the cursor over a location, then the top screen will display some additional information about it.

Feature 2: Pokémon Distribution (Pokémon)
The Pokémon Distribution feature displays all the wild Pokémon that can be found in a specific location.
Spots where you can find wild Pokémon are indicated by dark dots on the map.

Pokémon that you’ve already caught will have their sprite fully visible.
On the other hand, Pokémon that you haven’t caught yet will have their respective sprites displayed as translucent silhouettes instead.

Feature 3: Trainer’s Eye (Trainers)
The Trainer’s Eye feature indicates if there are any rematches available with NPCs in your current location. This applies to regular trainers as well as Gym leaders and the Elite Four.
Spots with regular trainers available for a rematch will be indicated by white dots on the map. Gym leaders and Elite Four rematches are indicated by dark dots.

By tapping any of the marked spots you can view all trainers available for a rematch in that location, as well as their respective parties. And the top screen will show the trainer’s profile.

Feature 4: Secret Bases (Bases)
The Secret Bases feature displays the location of all secret bases in your save file.
Spots with secret bases are indicated by dark dots on the map.

Feature 5: Berry Trees (Berries)
The Berry Trees feature allows you to see whether there are any ripe berries ready for harvest in any specific berry planting location. Spots with ripe berries are indicated by white square dots on the map.

By tapping on the white dots you will be able to see the types of berries available in that location.
