During inverse battles, type matchups are reversed. This mechanic makes super effective moves become not very effective, while not very effective moves become super effective. Likewise, type immunities also become weaknesses.

While type matchups are reversed, inverse battles do not affect abilities, status conditions, and move effects:

  • Ability-based immunities, like Levitate and Lightning Rod, are unaffected.
  • Type-based immunities to status conditions also remain unaffected. For example, Poison types are still immune to being poisoned, Electric types are immune to paralysis, and Grass types are unaffected by Powder moves.
  • Move-based effects still apply. Thousand Arrows will still hit Flying types super effectively, and Freeze Dry will also deal super effective damage to Water types.

Entry hazards like Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and Sticky Web are unaffected. Stealth Rocks, on the other hand, will have its resistances and weaknesses reversed.

Inverse Battle Locations

You can enter inverse battles at the Inverse Battle Stop in Mauville City, and at your Secret Base.

We’ll cover both options below.

#1: Inverse Battle Stop

The Inverse Battle Stop is located on Mauville’s east court. After flying to Mauville, head from the Pokémon Center to the east court.

Inverse Battle Stop Rewards

Inverse battles at the Inverse Battle Stop will also reward you with prizes based on your score.

The score is calculated based on the number of super effective and not very effective moves used by the player. You will earn 1 point for every super effective attack, and you will lose 1 point for a not very effective attack.

Note: Multistrike attacks still count as a single move.

The table below lists all rewards that can be won at the Inverse Battle Stop. If you manage to win without having a single Pokémon in your team faint, then you will get three units of the same item.
